Our History

The READucate method has been developed and refined over the past 80 years.

It began as project of passion by South African teacher Rebecca Ostrowiak who used 30 years of teaching experience to author the series “TEACH any child or adult to READ”. The series accomodated the various learning challenges Rebecca had successfully navigated among her learners.

Her daughter Edna Freinkel supported her in her quest to give disadvantaged people the gift of literacy and dedicated her life to the READucate program in South Africa.

The legacy is now being continued by Rebecca’s great grand-daughter Dani Lotzof. Dani has continued to support and grow the impact and reach of the READucate Programs through a focus on sustainability and reach through partnerships and other delivery models. This includes expanding READucate’s reach to the Philippines to pilot a partnership with a university and its Education students.
